 All Maine residents age 16 and older will be eligibleCOVID-19 vaccine Wednesday, April 7, 2021

Augusta, MAINE – Governor Janet Mills announced today that all Maine residents age 16 and older will be eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine beginning next Wednesday, April 7, 2021. The acceleration of Maine’s vaccination timeline by a week and a half comes as Maine is expected to receive a significant increase in vaccine supply from the Federal government. Vaccination for residents age 16 and older had previously been scheduled to begin on April 19, 2021.  “Maine continues to get as many people vaccinated as quickly as possible. With the Federal government significantly increasing our supply of vaccines, it is appropriate to accelerate our timeframe and make all Maine people eligible beginning next Wednesday,” said Governor Janet Mills. “While this is a great step forward, Maine people should keep in mind that even though they are eligible it will still take time to get an appointment and get a vaccine. We will continue to work with vaccine providers across Maine to get shots into arms as quickly as we can.”     “The […]

University of Maine to offer webinar on fiddleheads April 14

ORONO — University of Maine Cooperative Extension and University of New Hampshire Extension will offer a webinar for home gardeners about fiddleheads from 6–7:15  p.m. April 14. “Fiddleheads: A Spring Tradition” topics include how to properly identify, sustainably harvest and safely cook ostrich fern fiddleheads. UMaine Extension agriculture professional Dave Fuller will lead the presentation.  Registration is required; a sliding scale fee is optional. Letter: Central Maine Corridor is the wrong way to clean energy

By Eben Rose Massachusetts’ demand for 1,200 megawatts of electrical generation to fill the “energy gap” left by the closure of  two New England nuclear plants can be met with delocalized but interconnected microgrids, each with a capacity for sustainable electrical generation and salt water battery storage that can feed the grid and buffer fluctuations of demand. This model of growth is both sustainable and democratizing because it keeps decision making localized and not top-down, imposed from some high and distant corporate boardroom. Maine DHHS Urges people to take advantage of New ARP health care savings and sign up for coverage

03/24/2021  AUGUSTA— The Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) released the following statement today in response to Tuesday’s announcement by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services that the special enrollment period forHealthCare.gov plans will be extended until August 15, 2021. The Biden Administration previously announced that people without access to affordable coverage could sign up for coverage between February 15 and May 15, 2021 in response to the loss of jobs and health insurance due to COVID-19. Yesterday, this special enrollment period was extended to give consumers more time to take advantage of new savings through the American Rescue Plan. Maine Maritime Month at the Camden Public Library in April

Insights Literary/Art Journal coming in April

March 21, 2021 By Ramona du Houx Next May, the Solon Center for Research and Publishing will announce its first literary/art journal: INSIGHTS. Stories from authors published and unpublished will debut in the journal. Working with the Solon Center, Maine Insights will also publish some of the stories. Original art will accompany the stories. The Solon Center for Research and Publishing is a non-profit 501(c)3. Most literary journals don’t have much art. The Solon Center for Research and Publishing believes combining the two is the best way to make each medium come to life, which enhances the viewers/readers experience. ME Senators Collins, King announce more than $7.7 Million to support solar energy projects in Caribou, Skowhegan, and Fairfield

Acceleration of Maine’s COVID-19 vaccination timeline

Lori Gramlich that would help victims access justice. “As a kid, I knew I couldn’t change what happened to me, but I also knew that, when I was a grown-up, I would do my best to make things better for others. Maine tax deadline extended to May 17, 2021, following federal announcement

Augusta, MAINE – Governor Janet Mills announced today that the State of Maine will move the deadline for Maine individual income tax payments from April 15, 2021 to May 17, 2021.
