Western Mountains Alliance is partnering with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development program to bring workshops on two grant programs to the local agricultural community.
The workshops will be held on the following dates:
- Thursday, Jan. 28, 5 to 7 p.m., in the North Dining Hall, Olsen Student Center, University of Maine at Farmington, 111 South Street, Farmington.
- Friday, Feb. 5, 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., at the Skowhegan Community Center, 39 Poulin Drive, Skowhegan.
The programs will be focused on two grant opportunities that are both federal programs of the USDA Rural Development. They are directed toward value-added producers who need funds to help develop a business or marketing plan, and those who need working capital to operate a business that adds value to agricultural products. The funds would be used to help a producer better compete in the marketplace, according to a press release.
Agricultural producers interested in making energy efficiency improvements or considering installing a renewable energy system would also be eligible.
