Over 150 winter enthusiasts will “ski for a cause” at the WinterKids Downhill Derby at Mt Abram on Saturday and Sunday, March 9-10. This 24 hour event—the first of its kind in Maine—combines “‘round the clock” skiing with non-stop entertainment. 25 teams have committed to the challenge of skiing from dusk ‘til dawn, all in support of raising funds for WinterKids’ programs. The inaugural Downhill Derby is expected to raise over $30,000 for WinterKids, the nonprofit that works to get kids outside and active during Maine’s longest, most sedentary season.
 
The Downhill Derby is packed with fun. Live bands, raffles, and plenty of coffee will keep participants fueled and entertained around the clock. Prizes will be awarded in several categories, including Biggest Fundraising Team and Best Team Spirit.
