As a property owner burdened by excessive municipal property taxes, I have come to realize our towns in Maine pay exorbitant amounts for heating and providing electricity for town owned buildings, including our schools. Would you consider gathering this cost data from every town in Maine as a first approach. From this data, I'm sure we will realize just how inefficient many of these buildings are. Thousands and thousands of dollars could be given back to taxpayers by getting our town buildings to address efficiency. Please notify every town in Maine and request this cost information.

I am so glad to see such an energy coordinating group approved. I have believed in alternative energy and conservation programs for many years, and wondered why someone wasn't farsighted enough to investigate such. I am a retired teacher and have no education or training in energy other than my own research and readings, but have many questions about why people who are building or renovating homes have not been encouraged to orientate homes to south and informed about energy efficiency items to include, since no matter what heating/cooling agent is used, a tight and efficient home envelope seems to be the absolute bottom line.
