President Obama and his family will be visiting Maine next weekend, traveling to Mount Desert Island next Friday and staying through Sunday (July 16-18).

“What an honor that the Obama family has chosen Maine for vacation when they could have gone anywhere in the country. I think the Obamas will really enjoy the quiet woods, beautiful coast, wonderful people and everything else that brings thousands of families here every year,” said Congresswoman Chellie Pingree who is a graduate of The College of the Atlantic on the island. “Those of us lucky enough to live here know it’s the most beautiful place in the world and I’m glad we can share it with the First Family.”

Mount Desert Island is about 108 square miles off the Maine coast. The Obama’s are expected to visit Acadia National Park on the island, during their visit. The 47,000 acre park is the only national park in New England.

The Obamas visit to Maine is a personal family vacation and there are no public appearances scheduled.
