The center in Brunswick teaches about composite technologies, which are used in Wind Blades. UMaine wants to expand composite use to the towers and other componante parts of the wind turbine. Ideally, people educated in Brunswick at that center will be able to help build the turbines at the former Navy Base.

All these stories are in this months edition. If you read the interview with Gov. Baldacci he explains about the potential of wind energy in the state and how different sectors are involved.

Every K-12 school in Maine is welcome to get involved in the Wind Blade Challenge. Just contact UMaine's composite lab for the next competition.

How does the Maine Advanced Technology Center in Brunswick fit into this plan for workforce development?
The Wind Blade Challenge http://www.mainewindbladechallenge.com/ also seeks to engage secondary student in this enterprise. What are the K-12 connections?
