“The Maine Technology Institute Seed Grant will allow Tide Creative to build out an innovative and progressive mobile platform,” said Tide Creative founder, J Sandifer. “We see this as a success, not only of our growing company, but of our tight-knit startup community here in Maine. As we grow, we will continue to build out our team here in Portland. iSPYLove is an integral part of our company’s strategy to change the way people experience weddings.”

Tide Creative, a tech development company based in Portland, received a seed grant from the MTI to develop the iSpyLove mobile platform. The tool is a fully functioning photo and capture application with interactive online display and e-commerce platform.

With the grant, to be matched by Tide Creative funds, the development company will design and launch iSPYLove. The free app allows couples to download and curate images at their wedding celebration. The platform will pull all images and notes from users of the application into a website that will allow the couples and guests to organize content and tag favorites. The platform will also enable users to purchase products from those images.

Each year there are 2.2 million weddings in the US, and 83 percent of US marriages are of millennial aged people. The time spent in photo/video related mobile apps more than tripled among this demographic from July 2011 to August 2012 to 231 minutes per month.
