The National Guard Bureau is providing $40 million to Maine Military Authority (MMA) in Limestone for Humvee maintenance.
According to MMA, work will immediately begin on refurbishing vehicles that are already on site. Due to the new funding, MMA will rehire 26 workers that were laid off last year and produce approximately 727 additional vehicles for the National Guard Bureau through May 31st, 2013.

“This funding will not only provide the National Guard with fully refurbished vehicles, but it’s also a shot in the arm for the local economy with the reemployment of a number of highly skilled workers,” said Congressman Mike Michaud. “MMA has shown again and again that they can produce a top-quality vehicle at an extremely efficient rate. I know they will continue their track record of excellence with this new funding, and I look forward to touring the facility to hear more about their future plans on Monday.”

For years, Congressman Mike Michaud has been supporting an increased work load for MMA due to their track record of efficiency and importance to the local economy.
