  • Maine's Passamaquoddy Tribe signs letter of intent for marijuana cultivation facility

Maine's Passamaquoddy Tribe and Monarch America Inc. signed a letter of intent September 8, 2015 for the design, construction and development of a proposed state-of-the-art marijuana cultivation facility on sovereign Passamaquoddy Tribal Trust Land.

Under the proposed management consulting agreement, Monarch America will build out an existing 35,000-square-foot structure located on Maine tribe's land. In addition Monarch America  will oversee and consult on all facets of the marijuana operation, including property management, technology and equipment purchasing, inventory control, staffing and day-to-day operational management.

The partnership with the tribe would create the first legal marijuana cultivation operation on sovereign tribal land in Maine.
